This country walk begins at the Somerset village of Dundry. Set on a hill, the quaint village commands 360° views of Bristol, the Bristol Channel, South Wales, the Somerset Hills and the Mendip Hills. Apart from the breathtaking scenery, Dundry’s key attraction is the imposing 15th century church. The medieval church towers over the village and the hill, and can be spotted throughout this walk.
The Dundry Hilltop walk begins at the village car park (more aptly described as a lay-by). This country walk starts off with a leisurely stroll along a country path and through lush fields. In the first section of this walk, you can enjoy amazing views of the city of Bristol, the Bristol Channel and South Wales.
As you continue along the ridge of Dundry Hill, you can admire breathtaking views of the Somerset Hills and the Barrow Gurney reservoirs lying at the foot of the hill. This country walk then leads you through rolling fields and past a farm to the other side of the hill.
Discover charming country lanes and enjoy stunning views of the Chew Valley
On the other side of Dundry Hill, you can admire stunning views of the Somerset Hills, the Chew Valley, the Chew Valley Lake and the Mendip Hills. This country walk then takes you along a charming country lane hugged by lush fields. This section of the walk is picture-perfect and is the highlight of this walk. With the sun and clouds playing a game of cat and mouse over the rolling hills, the Somerset scenery is awe-inspiring.
You then stroll along a quiet country road hugged by untidy shrubs to the outskirts of Dundry. After walking down a back lane past houses and garages, you once again cross verdant fields, meet sheep grazing the day away and enjoy even more breathtaking views of the Somerset Hills. The Dundry Hilltop walk finishes off with a wander through the quaint village, past the imposing church and back to the car park.
